Booking Tours & Excursions in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Headed to Punta Cana? If so, you might want to consider locking in one of the following excursions in advance of your arrival. If you are traveling in high season, consider it important to book any tour or excursion at least 30 days out from your arrival. If you are traveling the rest of the year, most tours can be booked on arrival at your hotel. The one tour that should always be booked in advance is the Dolphin Swim because of the limited number of people who are allowed to swim with the dolphins on a daily basis.

In Punta Cana, we recommend Sol Cana Tours. On many occasions, they've gone above and beyond for our clients. Please see their list of tours below and if you are interested in booking any, drop us a line

A New Tour Company Comes to the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Treasures are a set of 11 unique, off-the-beaten path experiences run by small local enterprises in the Dominican Republic. From secluded eco-lodges to organic farming to culture and nature walks, the Dominican Treasures network truly has something to appeal to any interest. If you are looking for a travel experience in the DR that gives you a deep connection to the local culture and environment while supporting small community enterprises, then the Dominican Treasures is right for you. As we like to say, when in the Dominican Republic, do more than travel…discover!

La Caleta Aquatic Center: While the DR has a number of dive sites, La Caleta is unique in its location just a half hour outside of Santo Domingo. Offering all sort of water sports, including some unique wreck dives in the crystal clear waters of the Caleta marine park, your fun in the sun will also be helping the local community. Funds from the enterprise go towards grants for neighborhood community groups.

Fair Trade Chocolate Tour: About an hour and half outside of Santo Domingo, tourists can satisfy both their sweet tooth and their conscience with a fascinating hands-on experience on a local cocoa farm that culminates with a cocoa-licious feast that includes everything from chocolate marmalade to chocolate wine.

Salto de Aguas Blanca Ecotrail: It’s the classic experience of pristine nature: bathing under a secluded tropical waterfall. So why not do it at the largest waterfall in the Caribbean?  At Salto Aguas Blancas, a local guide will pick you up from Costanza in Jarabacoa and take you on this stunning trail, all while teaching you about the local flora and fauna. This is truly an experience not to be missed.

For more details on how to book your Dominican Treasures adventure, please visit their website for more information at http://dominicantreasures.com or call (809) 227-0370 or email info@dominicantreasures.com.

Punta Cana Resort and Club Named TOP Golf Resort!

PUNTACANA Resort & Club is currently home to two world class golf courses, P.B Dye’s La Cana and Tom Fazio’s Corales, with a third, Hacienda, set to open in 2011. The P.B. Dye-designed La Cana Golf Course, which opened in 2001, has long been a firm favorite of golfers from all over the world and, in line with PCRC’s efforts to be as environmentally friendly as possible, was the first course in the Caribbean to use paspalum, a grass seed that can be watered using sea water.

In April 2010, the highly anticipated Tom Fazio designed Corales course opened to rave reviews with Golf Week’s Brad Klein naming the course “The future of Caribbean golf”. With the addition of Hacienda, the resort will offer 54 holes of championship golf to guests of the resort. The combination of the three courses, along with the many other amenities available to guests, makes PUNTACANA Resort & Club the Caribbean’s premier golf and beach destination.

Over 2,000 golf resorts from around the world were considered for this award category and were judged based on customer satisfaction, quality of golf course and accommodation, value for money, accessibility to tee times as well as speed of communication and quality of service of the golf resort sales and marketing team.

Not only does Punta Cana Resort & Club have access to amazing golf, but the beach isn't bad either:

The resort buildings reflect the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets:

And the newly refurbished rooms are clean and streamlined making relaxation easy...

Contact CaribbeanJourney.com for great golf packages to the Punta Cana Resort & Club! We'll combine a resort + golf package with cheap flights. Punta Cana is serviced by every major island including; American Airlines, Delta, and even some discount airlines such as Jet Blue.

Hurricane Tomas Update

Hurricanes are scary phenomenons. We lived through 5 in Miami before moving to Atlanta. We were safe, and what was scarier for me was the loss of business when the Internet would take weeks to be repaired. But in 3rd world countries, without hurricane standard construction, even Hurricane Tomas - barely a category 1 - can cause catastrophic damage as noted in this video:

So far, we don't have any reports of damage to hotels on any of the islands affected. We are keeping a close eye on the path of Tomas as it threatens Jamaica and the Dominican Republic and if it hits, it would likely disrupt thousands of travelers. We are praying the storm steers clear of Haiti because as haven't they had enough?

Stay tuned!

Just a beach house in disguise?

Perhaps....

But I think not... because even the play yard has an exotic touch:
